Cat’s Closet

Kiwanis Club of Sweetwater are working with students and faculty of Sweetwater High School by sponsoring Cat’s Closet. This is a student and teacher project providing clothes and toiletries for students. This is an In-School Closet Program which has transformed an unused space into a safe, welcoming place where students can discreetly shop, free of charge, for clothing, toiletries, and other necessities. Students representing households of all income levels have collaborated in this charity and turned it into a fun and beneficial program. Cat’s Closet exemplifies the spirit of goodwill and love with students helping students.

Backpacks

Kiwanis Sweetwater provide over 150 students with a bag of nutritious snacks for over the weekend. These bags are packed and delivered by Sweetwater High School students and Kiwanis members every week. Schools provide students with food during the week and is often the only substantial meal some students receive. These food bags normally contain about eight food items the student can eat if food is scarce at home. Teachers at each school identify students who struggle with obtaining adequate food at home by discretely placing these bags of food into the students backpacks every Friday for the weekend.
